* MP3s * Videos * Concert Reviews * Tour Dates * Contests Stereogum Main April 17, 2007 New Interpol Live Videos - “Pioneer” & “Heinrich Maneuver” Interpol kicked off their tour Sunday night at the Capital Music Hall in Ottawa, debuting some material from their as-yet-untitled record, due out 7/5 on Capitol. Stereogum reader Yiyo clued us in on the grainy YouTube from the show, including this new cut that may or may not be called “Pioneer.” Sounds like … Interpol’s got a formula, and they’re sticking to it. For something with a beefier BPM, try the nearly complete clip of “Heinrich Maneuver” that’s after the jump (along with Interpol’s dates). “Heinrich Maneuver” (via stereogum: New Interpol Live Videos - “Pioneer” & “Heinrich Maneuver”)

Twitter does not scale? RoR?

I don’t think the real issue is that frameworks are good or bad, they are just an attempt to streamline the common parts of building some sort of application so you focus on the interesting stuff and not the infrastructure. Both Django and Rails are good at that, but you have to “stay within the lines” to really continue getting their productivity benefits. When you need to do something outside of the sweet spot, you will often end up fighting the very framework that was once helping you.

Girl Talk is really just a guy with a laptop rocking out on a DJ platform. But by the time we made it over, he head worked up the tent into a frenzy, even joining him on his little stage. This guy pieces together and mashes up just about every famous pop song from the 70s through the 90s. You gotta hear it to really understand, but it’s just pure nostalgia and a ton of fun.

Most amusing, and accurate, was Washington Post reviewer J. Freedom du Lac’s depiction of their sound, which he said was as if “Jeff Buckley was sitting in with the White Stripes to cover Tom Waits.” Rockin’.
